Blue Sky, Brown Sky Curriculum

“Blue Sky, Brown Sky … It’s up to You!” is the Air District’s free curriculum developed for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade. While we call it “curriculum”, this is also our air quality kit for kids. This is a great way for parents (and teachers) to introduce the causes and effects of air quality in the San Joaquin Valley to their kids, through interesting stories and fun air quality activities.

Available in two class levels (K-2 and 3-5), this curriculum educates students about air quality in the Valley and meets California classroom standards. Each set includes teachers’ guide, student workbooks and accompanying materials such as crayons and stickers.

For middle- and high-school students, the District provides the “Clean Air Challenge” curriculum. Teachers must attend a one-day workshop in order to receive this curriculum.
